Desktop Electric Utility Inspector
Wixom, MI
**Office-based in Wixom, MI with on-the-job training. After 3-12 months of successful performance and reliability, there may be opportunity to work from home 1 – 2 days/week**

POSITION SUMMARY
Execute image data analysis and evaluation of Electric Transmission, Electric Distribution and Substation facilities for equipment damage and risk through desktop-based inspections. The Inspector may be responsible to provide direction, training, supervision, and guidance of other design staff of equal or lower grade as directed by supervision.

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES
With minimal supervision, perform a variety of design-related duties including, but not limited to, the following:

Examine and record any abnormal conditions that are visible from the imagery (using image viewing software and high-resolution monitor).

Record third-party caused conditions that could potentially pose fire, compliance, and safety issues.

Review abnormal conditions for high-priority tags and image quality.

Review imagery of field scenarios and recognize if there is a regulatory or compelling condition that needs to be addressed within compliance program timeframe.

Provide training and technical support for peers.

Review quality findings to improve individual output and processes.

Share lessons-learned and quality findings in group setting to foster team success.

Achieve weekly production goals as defined by the project guidelines.

Perform other duties as assigned.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Requires 1-2 weeks of travel to California for training.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
-
Experience in some combination of the following: (Electric Transmission & Substation: 2 years’ experience, Electric Distribution: 4 years’ experience).

Electrical lineman or similar
-
Electrical Designer
-
Electrical asset inspector
-

Must have a valid driver’s license + clean driving record.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Must be able to complete a satisfactory background check.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in technical or design field
-
Knowledge of the practices and procedures pertaining to overhead and underground Electrical inspection
-
Familiarity in utility Electric Distribution and Transmission construction standards
-
Proficient use and knowledge of computers and software applications.
